Polaroid Series - 6. Salford Quays

Richard is fascinated with using Polaroid film with its one off unique image making capability coupled with the distinctive nostalgic aesthetic. He aims to capture images from a variety of location around the UK looking primarily at the contemporary urban built environment and redevelopment contrasting with decay and the industrial past. Using his instinctive eye for composition he uses the Polaroid camera to capture various scenes from location views or scene setters, more graphic views and details of objects he finds of interest. Richard went to Salford Quays near Manchester on a sunny spring day, Tuesday 16th March 2010. It starts from the Imperial War Museum North and crosses the bridge and passes the Lowry Gallery before heading along the old docks which have now been redeveloped into residential and offices spaces. Hints of there former maritime life exist in the old cranes and shows how a once busy port area has now been transform into an area of modern living with Metro transport links to Manchester City Centre.
